Perspective. Want some? This Tedx talk reminds us that sometimes it’s crucial to take a step back and evaluate why we’re living the way we are.
What do we really need in our lives? And, what do we sacrifice in our race to keep up with the Jones’s?
I found this talk particularly interesting with respect to the slow-life, minimalist and on-line nomad movements that have been growing in recent years.
I’m not saying we all need to quit our jobs this instant and go live off the land (unless that’s your thing. Props.). But, I do think it’s important to take responsibility in how you’re choosing to live and where you could be letting other people’s values or expectations dictate your free will.
There are as many ways to be in the World as there are people, don’t let others define you.
As, Kirk Nugent says:
“Let others be concerned about what the neighbors
Might think, say or do. but this is not for you!
Leave that for the politicians, the governors,
Start caring about other people’s opinion
And you’ll become their prisoner.
This is about a lifestyle that uniquely fits.
Life is God’s gift to you,
Style is what you make out of it.”
I hope you enjoy.
